Why Identity Matters

Why does identity matter? There are many people who are not sure who they are or who they were meant to be. I has been recently brought to my attention that Adam named all of the animals but called his wife, 'Woman'. She did not get a name until after the fall. Without an identity, man is destined to fail. This may seem harsh but it is true. I went and thought about Eve and realized that Adam called her woman for where she was from. In Genesis 2 Adam said, "She will be called woman because she CAME FROM man. In Genesis 3 he named her Eve for who she was, where she was going. Adam named the woman Eve because she was the mother of all living.

When we are named for our destiny we will see success. God calls you for where you are going, not where you have been. If He called you sinner, or addict or criminal, you would not be able to rise above that monicker. He calls you so much more. He calls you the apple of His eye. He calls you a royal priesthood. He calls you crafted in His image. God calls you for where you are going. You are rightly named for victory. In spite of what anyone else may think about you or call you, God calls you His favorite. God calls you victorious. When the spies went to see if they could take the land they returned with a report anchored in the way they saw themselves. They said "We were as grasshoppers in our sight and so we were in theirs." When we do not know how to see ourselves in the right Light of God our enemy sees us as weak also. You are more than amazing. You are crafted in the image of God and you are more than a conquerer. Stand firm on the identity God places on you and rise in the victory that is yours.
